The Little Proms is run by Donal Rogers and Eliza Marshal, bringing classical music to traditionally non-classical environments. Based at The Spice of Life in Soho London, we'll be bringing you Classical music at its best! Forget 'up and coming' these Classical stars are already here, and in an environment they cherish..(the pub)...It's the 1st Sunday of every month and its FREE ENTRANCE, nearest tube Tottenham Court Rd. ....

Under the Spotlight on the 5th October are The fantastic Wragg Dolls who will be playing great Classics in their own inimitable style inc pieces by Beethoven, Piazzolla,
Monti, Bartok and Poulenc...
Then we're off on a virtual trip to Cuba with Classical Guitar sensation Ahmed Dickinson Cardenas who will be performing works by Jose Antonio (Ñico) Rojas,
Eduardo Martin, Manuel de Falla and Bela Bartok.

Here's a little more info on the Artists:

The Wragg Dolls is an exciting and glamorous violin and 'cello duo that specialises in original arrangements of famous classics, light jazz, gypsy and pop music.

Formed whilst studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, the Duo have recently been invited to record two albums for new classical label 'Seven Cedars Music'. They will be joined by violinist Ben Wragg, pianists Kan Tomita and Antoine Francoise and violist Natalie Cavey for these exciting projects and are due to begin recording early next year.


The Wragg Dolls love to travel and, as chamber and orchestral musicians, have toured and performed in over fifty countries worldwide including the Far East, Middle East, Japan, Central America, Baltic States and the Caribbean.

Ahmed was born in 1978 in Havana, Cuba. Graduated from the Superior Institute of Art (Havana) in Guitar for which he was awarded a first-class honours degree, and also graduated a year early. Later he received lessons at the Royal College of Music with Carlos Bonell and Chris Stell. In 2006, supported by The Kramer- Chappell Scholarship and the Mad Hatters Club, he commenced studies with Professor Robert Brightmore at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama.
In the UK he has performed in prestigious venues such as the Wigmore Hall, the ICA (Institute of Contemporary Art), St James' Church Piccadilly, Canning House, Southwark Cathedral and the Bolivar Hall among others. Recent festivals include The London Guitar festival, Bolivar Hall International Guitar Festival, Ards Guitar Festival (Northern Ireland), Discovering Latin American, Hispano-American Guitar Festival(Mexico); Dublin Guitar Week(Ireland), Chester Summer Festival and Ilkley and Halesworth Festivals.
Although he graduated in classical and contemporary music, he performs a vast Cuban and Latin American guitar repertoire. Specifically Ahmed has transcribed and performed extensively the work for guitar by Cuban composer Ñico Rojas.
Ahmed Dickinson is a Concordia Foundation and Yehudi Menuhin's Live Music Now Scheme artist and he has been awarded the "Ivor Mairant", "Issac Nicola", "Musicalia" and "Amadeo Roldan" prizes for his guitar playing. He also collaborates with fine artists like Spanish virtuoso Eduardo Niebla, Venezuelan Folk singer Luzmira Zerpa and soprano Laura Mitchell.
Recent performances included the launch of Mestizo Duo (with violinist Lizzie Ball) and a tour to Cuba, Switzerland and Ireland, a one-off performance at the Barbican as part of the Cuban Film Festival, a duo concert at London City Festival and the performance of works by composer Judith Weir in a series of concert broadcasted by the BBC Radio3.
Ahmed is due to release in October his first album with works by Jose Antonio (Ñico) Rojas, at the Bolivar Hall.
