First performance in East Sussex of
Howard Goodall's ETERNAL LIGHT
Howard Goodall is well known amongst listeners to Classic FM as their Composer in Residence and his music is well known to fans of Blackadder, Red Dwarf and QI as well as many other popular TV shows and films. Perhaps his best loved choral work to date is ‘The Lord is my Shepherd’, the theme music to the Vicar of Dibley.
ETERNAL LIGHT has been described as ‘a Requiem for the living, addressing their suffering and endurance, a Requiem focussing on the consequences of interrupted lives’. It blends elements of the Latin Mass with the poetry of compassion and solace. It is both deeply moving and wonderfully optimistic.
The Heathfield Choral Society and being joined by the Camerata of London and soloists Kathryn Sargent and Michael Bunting for this special event.
The Heathfield Choral Society is well known for its enterprising programmes and powerful performances. It was one of the first choirs to perform Karl Jenkins ‘The Armed Man’ and has given many first performances including Praise and Revelation by Stuart Johnson and ‘The Flowering of the Flint’ by Julian Broughton.
The concert also includes Vaughan Williams: FIVE MYSTICAL SONGS’, Mozart: EXSULTATE, JUBILATE and Elgar: SOSPIRI.
