Guiness World Record Tea Dance attempt for Glasgow

The final strains of Strictly Come Dancing may have only just faded away for another year but the citizens of Glasgow the citizens of Glasgow are determined to "keep dancing".

On 30 December, as part of their regular Winterfest Tea Dance Tuesdays, the city sets out to beat the world record for the largest outdoor tea dance in the world (currently 195 couples) and dance its way in to the record books.

The Glasgow Big Band That Swing Sensation have planned a fabulous musical programme to keep everyone dancing and the Fly Right Dance Company will be on hand with tuition and advice to make sure that everyone from dancing divas to complete beginners will enjoy the day. With hot jive and sedate foxtrots on offer

You can register for the world record attempt from 11am on 30 December in George Square and all dancers receive a free cup of tea and scone.

For a bit of extra practice, dancers can join in the Tea Dance Tuesday on 23 December, in George Square. Free to take part, couples can waltz, foxtrot and quickstep the afternoon away with the help of professional instructors.
