This course is a solo singing; performance-orientated course taught like a master class focusing on the individual performances of each participant. Each class begins with a warm up, centering exercises and vocal instruction, but the bulk of the classes consist of students performing solo material of their own choice for the class. We concentrate on exercises to improve delivery and interpretation and include constructive feedback on each participant's performance with an analysis of the acting content in a performance as well as analysis of vocal technique.
The course is split into half terms of six-week blocks which can be booked separately or together. In each session we cover a different topic and there are twelve topic-modules for the whole course, one each week.
Borrowing from success psychology we use visualization, affirmations and breath work to facilitate the achievement of each individual's particular singing goals. Using your passion we support you in reaching for your "dream" singing goal and delivering the performance of your life. We encourage participants to go to open mike sessions and networking events outside the classes.
We give you vocal training and singing exercises that you can take with you on your singing journey that both ground you and allow you to fly with the sound of your voice and the making of music. You are encouraged to come from the deepest place of your authenticity, from the depths of your soul and supported by the group into stepping out of your comfort zone. You can expect dramatic changes in ability and self-confidence after attending this course.
You can use this course to prepare for our recording courses or auditions and performances of your own. We consider networking between classes and going to open mike events, concerts, jazz clubs and other situations that put you on the line to be part of the course. On this course, there is an atmosphere of trust and friendship that occurs giving people a foundation from which to jump higher and experiment more both inside and outside the classroom. There is an optional invitation for participants to perform at one of our concerts after completing this course.
