Join UK Ghost Nights as we go in search of the ghost of the White Lady, just one of the many Ghosts Of Margam Castle. A Tudor Gothic mansion, it was built between 1830 and 1840. During the 10 years it took to build it is said that several experienced masons mysteriously fell to their deaths from this haunted castles walls. Was this linked to the Monks curse or just unfortunate accidents?

It was the Talbot family that built Margam Castle in 1840, but the Mansel family previously owned the land and in the eighteenth century they chose to ignore the curse that had been placed by the Cistercian monks on the old abbey that stood in the grounds. The curse warned that if the pillars of the abbey gatehouse were to fall, then the family would die out. Within five years of this curse being set the pillars did fall and the family did die out.
The Talbot family lived in the castle until the outbreak of war in 1939. It was then bought by David Evans-Bevan, who found it difficult the take care of the vast property. After the war the Castle fell into disrepair and was then acquired and restored by Glamorgan Council. Today the Castle is a tourist attraction.
Many staff and visitors have reported paranormal activity in this most haunted location. The angry spirit of the old gamekeeper is frequently encountered on the Gothic staircase. It is said that he was murdered by a poacher and his spirit will not settle due to the rage his still feels…Will you dare to hold a séance on the haunted staircase or will you go in search of the sound of giggling children heard frequently echoing through the long corridors?
Apparitions of children in Victorian clothing have been witnessed going in and out of some of the rooms and doorways and with many reports of cold spots felt and orbs seen in the Castle. It appears that the Castle is alive with psychic energy! Stones have been thrown at those who hold séances in hope of speaking with the spirits of the castle, running footsteps and chattering voices are often heard with no sign of any living intruder! The castle is said to be one of the most haunted castles in Britain and is a must for all avid ghost hunters, if you dare to set foot inside!
